Greg Jensen at JTS is an ex-employee of Measurex Corporation. He had worked initially as a field engineer, then eventually became software/control engineer. His experience includes work in both pulp and paper and other industrial system group (ISG) system fields. Mr. Jensen has process measurement and control experience in pulp and paper, aluminum (gauge and shape), stretch and biax extruded film, magnetic tape, vinyl calendar, and woven fiberglass strand mat applications. Through this experience, he became well familiar with both mechanical setup, electronics, and software of Measurex systems. JTS continues to provide support for Measurex systems with spare parts and repairs of boards and modules, hard drives, system backups, etc, and is available for on-site assistance as well.
In-house Repair and Calibration Capabilities
JTS has a fully loaded Vision UT cabinet where he can test system circuit boards, system components, and run system software. It includes a multibus chassis with MX63 and GP63 processors, a SSP sub-unit, and Unitec chassis where he can perform tests with them as well. JTS has an off-line Unitec test bench system for troubleshooting, repair and calibration of UNITEC boards. JTS has developed a test programs to test and repair the various QBUS boards used in the Measurex SSP unit and the DEC LSI-11 based systems like the 2001 and 2002 systems. JTS has also developed a test program to test and repair DEC LSI-11 (PDP-11) QBUS memory boards. This service is available to non-Measurex users also. Mr. Jensen has experience in programming in DEC LSI-11 and HP microprocessor assembly languages. JTS has also built a test bench for repairs and checks on the moisture gauge boards and Pbs detector modules.
Vision Hard Drive and Tape Drive Upgrades
JTS offers upgrades to Vision systems. One upgrade allows the system to use hard drives other than the Priam type, hard drives which are more plentiful on the open market and lower cost. Solid State Hard drives and SD card options are currently being researched. Another upgrade replaces the Streamer Tape unit tape drive with a 150MB type tape drive. Besides this tape drive being a much more reliable, it allows you to use DC6150 tapes, (found new on the market) and uses one tape cartridge per backup (not two as currently done).
On-Site Assistance
Mr Jensen is available to travel on-site to provide technical support work on these systems. He specializes in the Measurex 2000, 2001 and 2002 systems (HP 21MX and DEC based), but has Vision 2002 ET/UT experience as well. He knows the scanners and gauges well, from both a hardware and software point of view. Calibration of gauges (for example a basis weight sensor gauge) for new products is one example of services provided.
